ABOUT US

Beloit 2020, held its first informal meeting on December 19th, 1988.  Since that date this private sector civic organization has provided the leadership for a bold public/private initiative for revitalizing the historic core of Beloit, Wisconsin centered on the Rock River. The initial plan, a joint venture between the public and private sector, began as an outgrowth of concern over the image of the Beloit area and the negative impact of that image on the community's ability to attract and retain talented employees; the life blood necessary to generate economic development. The scope and range of Beloit 2020’s vision for transforming the City Center of Beloit from a liability into an asset has expanded from the banks of the Rock River to a broader area that continues to focus on the Rock River but has expanded the boundaries into adjacent neighborhoods, the traditional downtown and into the City of South Beloit. The City Center is imagined as vibrant center of the local region comprised of a population of 110,000 in a regional city designated as Ten Mile City. What follows is a list of events associated with the 2020 vision.
